About Marine View Beverage
The Marine View Beverage story…..
Since 2002 Marine View Beverage has been operating as a prominent beverage distributor serving seven Western Washington counties from three distribution facilities and employing over 300 personnel. MVB is owned and operated daily by three partners; Fred Bevegni, Mike “BJ” Bjerke and Lance Kahn. Since 1951, MVB has grown to four locations while increasing their brands through performance and distributor acquisitions. We are proud of our simple beginnings and continued commitment to our communities.
Western Beer Distributing began as a Miller Brewing appointed distributor in 1951 with Fred Bevegni, Sr. and Ernst Ruffo as partners. As they acquired brands, including Coors in 1983, the growth necessitated the construction of the present Sumner facility in 1997.
Jennings Distributing of Bremerton began in 1966 when Bob Jennings purchased Independent Distributors. The original brands included Rainier, Molson and Heineken. Jennings moved to its current location in 1968 and added 20,000 square feet with the acquisition of such brands as St. Michelle and Miller. With the purchase of Sid Eland Distributing in 1989, additional significant wine brands, Fosters, Sam Adams and Thomas Kemper/Pyramid were added to the portfolio. Sadly in 1991, Bob Jennings passed away and Lance Kahn , his wife JoAnne (Bob’s daughter) and son Jon Jennings and Karen Jennings entered into partnership. In 2000 Jon Jennings retired and sold out to Lance.
Black Hills Distributing started out in the early 1970’s as a distributorship owned by West Coast Grocery representing the Olympia Brewing Company brands. In 1980 a local group of business owners purchased the distributorship from West Coast, then in 1984 purchased Capitol Beverage which added Coors, Miller and Lucky Lager to the portfolio BJ Bjerke who was working for Coors joined the Black Hills team as General Manager in 1987. In 1999, BJ purchased Black Hills and in 2000 went on to purchase Cammarano Brothers Distributing and almost double the size of the Company. Later that same year K & T Distributing was purchased, requiring the present warehouse to be constructed in 2001.
In 2002, Lance Kahn, Fred Bevegni and BJ Bjerke merged Jennings Distributing, Western Beer and Black Hills Distributing to create Marine View Beverage! The merger of companies enhanced greater efficiencies and continued growth. In 2004 United Distributors in Port Angeles was purchased by MVB to add a fourth facility. During the fall of 2009, MVB again added many new brands which included Rockstar, Diageo, Guinness, Pyramid, Sierra Nevada, Mike’s Hard Lemonade and Pernod Ricard.
Today Marine View Beverage distributes 7.75 million cases a year. We have come a long way from our humble beginnings and our future looks brighter than ever!
